Formal models
Key Words: Coding, Word Combinatory, Cryptography, Formal Calculus
Scientific Themes
Research around this subject is done in three domains:
- Symbolic calculus and algebraic combinatory (since 1992)
- Cryptography and security (since 1999)
- Word combinatory and coding (historic subject of the Axis)
Research Operations
Symbolic Calculus and algebraic combinatory
The Symbolic Calculus area is now directed by Florent Hivert. A high quality research has been developed and the written publications are from the best international level. This domaine has indeed a very strong interaction with the mathematical field, but it is also linked to recent research on theoretical phisycs. The research team works in collaboration with several national and foreign teams.
Cryptography and Security
Criptography area
The cryptography subject, which has been recently created by Jean Francis Michon, was strongly encouraged by two ACI (Audit Conseil Informatique) Cryptographers of the MENR (Ministère de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche). The developed techniques are oriented to the most actual problems in computer security and information networks. The interaction of this team with the Symbolic Calculus team has been developed and strenght, being their activities perfectly complementary. Another success is as well the creation of the international workshop BFCA06 which holds anually in Rouen with publication of the contributions by the editorial of the University of Rouen (controled by a lecture commite with international reputation).
Word Combinatory and Coding
The Word Combinatory subject has been done since a long time with international reputation. It has achieve the renewing of the problematic by making strong contributions in the bioinformatical axis (courses, PhD thesis supervisions and algorithmic research applied to this domaine). It has produced nombreuse articles and is placed in a cooperation net with the Univiersity of Paris 7 (LIAFA), Marseille (IML), and Marne la Vallée (Monge Institute). It contributes to the organization of the international congres WORDS.
